Don’t need your IRA retirement savings as much as you once thought?

Learn more about how a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) can benefit you.

If you are 70½ or older and have an IRA, you are already qualified!

How a QCD Works

You are at least 70½ years old with IRA funds you no longer need

Make a QCD from your IRA

Your QCD goes directly to Seattle Children’s, supporting a cause you care about

*If you are 73 years old or older, your QCD can count towards your required minimum distribution (RMD)!

Did You Know?

You can also support our mission for years to come. Simply name Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation as a beneficiary of your IRA account, and the remaining assets (or a portion) of the account will be distributed to help provide hope, care and cures to kids.

Reduce Your Taxable Income

When you take funds from your IRA, they count as taxable income. But if you transfer them directly to Seattle Children’s, you reduce your taxable income while satisfying your RMD.

Fulfill Your RMD

After you turn 73, you must distribute funds from your IRA. If you do not distribute the required minimum, you may be penalized, but a QCD allows a transfer up to $105,000 per individual or $210,000 per couple to satisfy your RMD.

Help Transform Pediatric Healthcare

When you make a QCD from your IRA to Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation, you will help us support lifesaving care and research for kids.

“Our sweet granddaughter, Anna, was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma at just 8 months old. Groundbreaking research at Seattle Children’s saved her life, and today she’s a 10-year-old cancer survivor. The tax-free advantage of donating from our IRA allows us to make a bigger gift to the Cancer Clinical Trials Fund, so that more kids like Anna can celebrate all of life’s milestones with their families.”
